Inspired Shopping

[Turtleneck: Banana Republic Outlet (old); Shirt: J.Crew factory; Jeans: Citizens of Humanity (similar); Boots; J.Crew (similar); Ring: Forever 21]

Last month when I scored some crazy deals at J.Crew, I got another big bonus: styling inspiration from the sales associate who rang me out. She wore a cute cowl neck sweater layered over a button down shirt. I had never thought to do much with a cowl neck, but after seeing this, I was excited to pull similar pieces from my own closet to recreate the look. I love the new life that layering gives to old wardrobe pieces.

Don't forget to enter my jewelry giveaway with Joyo. You have until Sunday night to score these awesome, laser-cut wood jewelry!

I'm Blueeeeee

[Blouse: Forever 21 (similar); Jeans; 7 for All Mankind (similar); Shoes: DSW (a pretty similar pair); Ring: Forever 21; Neckalce: Joyo]

Remember that annoying song? That's all I could think of when reviewing this outfit.

Happy Black Friday all. Let's keep the impulse shopping to a minimum.

Plummy

[Jeans: Forever 21 (sold out now, similar color here); Sweater: J.Crew thrifted from Salvation Army; Shoes; Restricted via DSW; Scarf: H&M men's section; Ring: Forever 21 (similar); Cuff: Joyo; Leopard Bangle: SoWa Vintage]

So glad I ended my colored jeans protest. And discovered my obsession with thrifting oversized sweaters. In this outfit, I'm also introducing you to some of the colors I used in my wedding. Because—drumroll, please—I'm nearing my one-year anniversary, and am on celebratory trip currently and plan to entertain you with a few wedding style posts toward the end of this week. Yes, entertain. It will be fun. Promise.

Summer Neutrals

[Top: Forever 21 (old); Jeanns: Gap; Scarf: H&M (years old); Sandals: Madewell, Bangles: SoWa Vintage]

Today is match-your-outfit-to-your-home-decor day. Just kidding. That's only a coincidence. The real inspiration for this outfit came from my friend Lauren, who posted about the mix of neutrals and whites she wanted to wear when leaving for her honeymoon earlier this summer. I loved the carefree summer vibe, and am already mourning it.

Airline Chic

[Blazer: Forever 21; Top: J.Crew factory (old; last seen here); Shorts: DIY cutoffs from old J.Crew toothpick jeans; Flats: Old Navy; Necklace: Forever 21]

Gotta love some good ol' Pinterest inspiration. (I refuse to call it Pinspiration—it looks/sounds like perspiration.)

I always thought loose-fitting navy blazers were just a one neck tie shy of an airline counter attendant uniform. Then I saw this amazing shot of Style.com market director Marina Larroudè on Pinterest. Weeks later I somehow ended up in Forever 21 (shocking, I'm never there), saw this baby on the rack, and threw it on over my floral top and cutoff shorts.  A fabulous street style look replicated for fast-fashion and DIY prices. You can call it an impulse buy; I call it a classic piece on the cheap. And the perfect transition item: great with shorts and white jeans in the summer, and can totally work over long-sleeve tops, print blouses, and knit dresses in the fall and (no, please not yet) winter.

My most recent outfit was a transition from my stripes kick (or obsession), to a floral one. I think this one will be a bit more short lived than the last, though.

Ray of Light

[Striped top: Forever 21; Jeans: Gap; Necklace: Banana Republic outlet (old); Shoes: Old Navy (sold out)]

I'm fighting this dreary weather with an all-white outfit and a finishing touch of neon.

And celebrating the fact that I didn't get this dirty even though I ate ribs for dinner right after these pictures were taken.

Happy Wednesday (some call it hump day).
